Anyone can make money. That’s nothing special. Anyone can build an app; it’s just some code. There have been hundreds of companies that were the Apples and Googles of their time, but you – you are truly a unique product.
No one can create you, no one can brand you, no one can experience the life you’re building for yourself but you. When Victor Frankl was trapped in a concentration camp he noticed how some people chose to create meaning for themselves even when everything felt hopeless.
This small observation changed his whole view on himself as well as inspired humanity as a whole.
The truth is we all live in a sort of prison. You don’t get to choose the family you were born into, your country of origin, your natural talents, or whether you will lose your hair. No matter what you do, you will age, the people around you will change, and your life will be filled with unpredictable events.
But this doesn’t mean that your choices don’t matter. In fact, the choices are all you have. And the most important choice you can make is how to design the product of yourself. This product, the first thing you create and also in many ways the last thing you create, effects everything else you do.
Don’t just focus on building an empire. Instead focus on building a life and a set of traits you can be proud of.
