How To Face The Discomfort of Change

Yesterday was really tough. I felt light headed, a little drunk, and mentally not all there. No I don’t have the flu and I haven’t taken any sort of drugs. I feel this way because I’m trying a new short term diet to loosen my dependency on sugar. I knew it would be hard, but I didn’t expect it to be this hard.

But despite the difficulty I’m still in good spirits for one reason: I know it won’t last.

No matter how off I feel, no matter how hungry I feel, and no matter how much I would love to shove a handful of M&M’s down my throat, I endure. Not because I’m super human, have amazing will power, or that I’m better than you are. I endure because I remind myself that it will not last.

Facing Change In Hard

If you are anything like me, there have been times you’ve felt afraid that if you make a change, you will feel uncomfortable. Moreover, as you considered taking action the spectre of this discomfort haunted you like a ghost.

You imagined changing would make you feel awkward and off. You imagined this feeling lasting for a long time, maybe even the rest of your life. And so you stayed where you were.

But the truth I have found again and again is that discomfort doesn’t last forever. And even when it does endure, it’s never as long or as bad as you fear.

You see while impermanence can be a bummer when it comes to summer, young love, or a tasty chocolate bar. The nature of impermanence can also give you courage. Knowing that discomfort is temporary can help you face the things in your life you’ve been avoiding.

What if I told you I could give you a pill that would make you happy for the rest of your life, but it would give you stomach cramps and diarrhea for a two weeks. Wouldn’t you take it? Wouldn’t you trade a few uncomfortable days to be happy for a long long time?

And yet, so many of us choose to stay where we are because we are afraid of the discomfort that change will bring. So I’m challenging you and myself to stop this. To stop seeking the easy path, just because it’s a little less demanding. Instead, I challenge you to stop accepting your comfortable pain and embrace your uncomfortable path. I know that if you do, you will be so much happier that you won’t even remember why you were so worried in the first place.

A happier you is waiting, all you have to do is be willing to create the space for it, to listen to your heart, and to trust yourself.

4 Ways Changing Your Life = Better Sex

5 Ways Changing Your Life = Better Sex ,better at sex, make sex better, good sex, have better sex, good in bed, better in bed, best sex tips, how to have better sex, life change, life transformation, change my life, change your brain

4 Ways Changing Your Life = Better Sex

Changing your life is hard. It takes a lot of motivation to go from where you are to who you want to be. Sex is one of the most powerful motivators we know, yet so few people talk about how changing your life can benefit you in the sack.

1. Courage –

Change takes courage. Most people settle for an unsatisfying life because it’s familiar. Even if it sucks, they are afraid that something new might be even worse.

If you want to change you have to let go of the familiar and embrace the unknown. In that unknown is possibility for both fame and fortune or shame and ruin. Change asks us to swallow our fear and take a leap of faith.

Great sex also takes great courage. The worst lovers are the timid ones. The best lovers are the ones that are willing to take risks with gusto.

I’m not talking about taking risks like sleeping around or having unprotected sex. I’m talking about taking risks like talking openly about sex. I’m talking about being willing to say what you like and ask your partner what they like.

It’s funny that we are unwilling to talk about something so much of us do. Perhaps we are afraid we will find out we are horrible lovers. So instead of finding out how to be better we simply suffer silently.

When we have the courage to talk about sex, we often find a way to make things hotter for everyone involved.

2. Creativity –

Embracing change requires creativity. Doing the same ole same ole is easy. You just go to work, do your job, and collect your check. But if you want to live a different way, you have to get creative.

Change means trying new things and learning from your mistakes. You have to regain your sense of imagination and play. Because that’s what making change is all about.

Of course creativity has amazing benefits for you as a lover. The best lovers are inventive and imaginative. They don’t get stuck doing it one way, one day a week, for the rest of their lives. They seek out novelty and innovation. They develop new skills and better foreplay.

A little variety can spice things up quite a bit. And creativity can make your life an adventure during the day and during the night as well.

3. Curiosity –

Changing your life demands curiosity. If you aren’t curious you just accept things as they are, without asking questions. Changing you life is all about turning yourself into one big question.

Every great transformation begins with a question.
It could be the question:
How can I make my dream a reality?
Or How can I help people?
Or How can I travel all the time?

Every great question leads to other questions. And by always asking your life becomes the answer.

Because amazing sex demands amazing curiosity. Being curious will turn you into a macdaddy or macmomma in bed fast.

There isn’t one simple technique or skill you can learn that can make you an amazing lover. Every person is unique and what makes someone toes curl is just as unique . The only way you are going to figure it out is to by being curious.

Amazing lovers are always asking in speech and action:
How can I make this better for you?
How can I make this more exciting?
How can we help each other enjoy this more?

4. Confidence –

We can’t be sure what we are made of, until we are tested. If we spend all our time wondering ‘what if we went after our dreams?’ Instead of actually going after our dream we will never escape self doubt.

Embracing change teaches us to be more confident. And not only when we succeed. Surviving failure is one of the most powerful things we can do to build confidence.

When we fall flat on our faces and get up again we learn we can do it again.

Confidence also makes us amazing lovers. Confidence is one of the best aphrodisiacs out there and when it comes with creativity and curiosity it’s almost irresistible.

A confident lover is sure of what they want and knows they can give you what you want. Not because they already have you figured out, but because they’re sure they can figure it out with you.

Go Get It

If you still aren’t convinced that embracing change will make you better in the sack consider this. Who would you rather have as a lover? Someone with a stable job who always talks and dreams about doing something else, or someone who embraces change and goes after their dreams, even if the path is a little rockier along the way.

If we look into Pop culture we see so many example of poets, artists, and musicians with little to no money attracting desirable mates. Why is this?

If stability made for better lovers then accountant firms would be like Mad Men. But the truth is most people think passion is sexy. So stop living a boring life and go after your dreams.

Your current or future girl/boy friends and spouses will thank you over and over, I guarantee.

Minimalist Health: 5 Unbelievably Easy Ways To Live Healthier

Minimalist Health: 5 Unbelievably Easy Ways To Live Healthier, minimalist health, eat better, mindful fitness, mindfulness, what is mindfulness, live healthierThere is a deluge of advice out there on how to live a healthier lifestyle. You can eat Paleo, do Crossfit, go vegan, and get a TRX.

But for all the theories and programs, a healthy lifestyle isn’t actually that complicated. And some of these programs do more harm than good.

A Crazy Diet
When I was a high school wrestler, I had to cut weight for matches. So, I tried all sorts of crazy dieting theories.

For several months, I was on a liquid diet of protein shakes. Another time, I ate baked potatoes for almost every meal. I also tried eating meals the size of a soft balls.

Each of these wild plans worked but I’d end up feeling like crap. For example, when I came off the liquid diet it felt like someone dropped a bomb on my body. Other diets left me so tired the feeling of my clothes irritated me.

You Did What?
When I tell people these stories they think I was nuts. Yet, you see this kind of stuff all the time in the diet and fitness world. People will do anything to try to conquer their weight.

Too often, this means making yourself miserable just to lose a few pounds. The problem is being miserable isn’t sustainable. The pursuit of health needs to be part of the pursuit of happiness. Otherwise, you’re not on the right track.

Listen to Your Body
When I came back to athletics as an adult I realized that when I lived healthier I felt healthier. I could have ice cream for breakfast but I felt bloated and sleepy. I could eat a salad for every meal, but I’d feel weak and be prone to sickness.

If I paid attention, my body would tell me if I was on the right track. I still worked out hard and sometimes I felt sore. But when I pursued a balanced path, I looked and felt much better.

Being healthy and happy doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact it shouldn’t be. The idea at the core of Mindful Fitness is that healthy, happy living is about simplicity and balance.

So here are 5 Unbelievably Simple Things You Can Do To Improve Your Health

1. Move Bad Food Further Away
The closer you are to food the more likely you are to eat it. So, move food out of your office and into a break room. Don’t bring food into your bedroom unless it’s for a meal. Only take half of what you normally would for dinner and leave the extra in the kitchen.

Best of all don’t buy food you don’t want to eat. If you have to move to get it, you have to think about it. This one step will increase you awareness of everything you eat.

2. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Between every meal, eat a piece of fruit. Make half of each dinner plate some type of non-starchy vegetable. I tell all of my clients to eat more veggies. I tell myself the same thing.

Like Snacking? Eat fruit. You will get more vitamins, eat fewer calories, and feel better.

3. Never Go More Than 2 Days without Exercise
This doesn’t mean you have to lift weights or run a mile everyday. It just means you should do some intentional activity every other day. Even if it’s a 5 min walk around the office.

The habit of exercise is the first step to being active. Make it small. Make it doable. Make it happen.

4. Spend 10 Minutes a Day in Intentional Silence
Turn the radio off when doing the dishes. Turn the radio off when you pick your kids up from school. Take a 10 min walk in silence.

Listen to the sounds around you. Focus on your breath. Silence is the most nourishing practice for our minds. This habit is a key to mindful living.

5. Stretch
Whether you are training for an Iron man or mostly sedentary, flexibility is essential. It prevents injury and helps your body be happy. Stretch every other day. Even if it’s just getting out of bed and spending five minutes bending this way and that.

Even better take a yoga class. Look around and you’ll discover many options to choose from. Take something simple and take it easy. Your body and mind will thank you.

The most amazing wisdom is usually the simplest. Being healthy isn’t complicated. Just start small and stick to it. Remember that radical change is gradual change.
